Nutritious Meals Through the National School Lunch Program

At St. Peter Claver Catholic School, we are proud to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that every student at our school is eligible to receive free lunch—no application required.

Our school remains committed to providing healthy, balanced meals each day to support student learning, health, and development.

What is the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)?
The NSLP is a federally funded initiative that offers nutritious meals to students in both public and private schools. Through our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision, we are able to offer free lunch to all students—regardless of income.

These meals meet the high standards set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for calories, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy.

Is Lunch Required?
No. School lunch is optional.
Many families choose to send a lunch from home, and we fully support that choice. Whether your child eats a school-provided meal or brings one from home, our goal is to ensure they are well-nourished and ready to learn.

Allergies & Dietary Needs
If your child has a food allergy or dietary restriction, please visit the front office to request a Meal Modification Form. Once completed by your child’s physician, return it to the office so that we can keep it on file and take the necessary precautions in our food service.

Our Commitment Includes:
Free lunch for all enrolled students through CEP

Nutritious meals prepared and served daily

USDA-compliant menus and trained food service staff

Respect for family preferences and health needs

A welcoming, inclusive dining environment for every student

Why It Matters
Research shows that students who eat a healthy lunch are better able to focus, participate, and perform in school. Our participation in NSLP and CEP helps eliminate barriers and ensures every child has access to a nourishing meal during the school day.
